Freddy Tan

Freddy Tan is a seasoned cybersecurity leader and a DDAS Nexus Advocate, bringing decades of experience in strengthening digital defence capabilities across both public and private sectors.

With a distinguished career spanning over 40 years, Freddy began his journey in the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF), where he played a pioneering role in establishing Singapore’s cyber defence capabilities, including the Computer Security Monitoring & Investigation Centre and the national Computer Emergency Response Team.

He has since held senior leadership positions across leading organisations, including serving as Chief Security Advisor for Microsoft Asia Pacific and taking on strategic cybersecurity roles with major telecommunications and cybersecurity firms. His expertise spans cybersecurity strategy, advisory, and large-scale digital risk management.

Freddy holds a Master’s degree in Information Systems Security from the University of London and is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). He is also a respected contributor to the cybersecurity community, having been recognised with industry honours and contributing to professional bodies such as the Singapore Association of Information Security Professionals.

As a DDAS Nexus Advocate, Freddy actively contributes to advancing Singapore’s digital defence by sharing insights, engaging diverse audiences, and championing the importance of cybersecurity awareness and resilience. His leadership and experience exemplify DDAS’ mission to strengthen a trusted, secure, and resilient digital ecosystem for Singapore.
